PHSMUN Committees 2025

There are six different committees for our 2025 International Summer conference. These six committees all have two topics of which you will be debating on. These are what you will come to be writing resolutions on. The six committees are the UN Security Council, North Atlantic Council, Human Rights, Historical committee, Commission for the Status of Women and DITECH.

UN Security Council

  • The UN Security Council is the primary body responsible for maintaining global peace and security within the United Nations. It has 15 members, including five permanent ones (China, France, Russia, the UK, and the US) with veto power, and ten non-permanent members elected for two-year terms. Its main functions include authorizing peacekeeping missions, imposing sanctions, and issuing resolutions to address conflicts and security threats worldwide.

North Atlantic Council

  • The NAC is the principal political decision-making body of NATO, focusing on collective defence, security policy, and international stability. Delegates will debate pressing global challenges, including military strategy, crisis response, and alliance cooperation, to shape the future of transatlantic security.

Commission for the Status of Women

  • The UNCSW is committed to advancing gender equality and empowering women globally. Delegates will engage in discussions on key issues such as women's rights, economic opportunities, political participation, and social justice. Through diplomacy and collaboration, they will work to develop policies that promote inclusivity, equity, and sustainable progress for women and girls worldwide.

Human Rights

  • The Human Rights Committee tackles pressing global human rights issues. Delegates engage in discussions surrounding civil liberties, political freedoms, minority rights, and humanitarian concerns. They collaborate to draft resolutions aimed at addressing these challenges and promoting respect for human rights worldwide through diplomatic means.

DITECH

  • The DITECH committee focuses on the intersection of diplomacy and technology, addressing pressing global challenges in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital governance, and emerging innovations. Delegates will engage in critical discussions on how nations can collaborate to ensure ethical, secure, and inclusive technological advancements while navigating geopolitical tensions in the digital age.

Historical

  • The Historical Committee offers a journey into crucial moments from the past. Delegates step into the shoes of historical figures or nations, immersing themselves in debates, negotiations, and crises of the chosen era. Through research and some role-play, participants gain insights into historical decision-making and its continuing effect in global issues.
